Whether due to injury, decay, or disease, sometimes teeth cannot be repaired but must be replaced with dentures. When that time comes, Dental Comfort Associates is here to help.
What Are Dentures?
Simply put, dentures are removable replacements for missing teeth, and are also known as false teeth. Thanks to advancements in dentistry and oral surgery, today’s dentures are more comfortable and natural-feeling than ever before, and can improve appearance and quality of life.
Types of Dentures
Depending on how many teeth are missing or being removed, we will choose from two types of dentures: partial dentures and complete dentures.
Complete Dentures
When all the teeth must be replaced, complete dentures are used. Immediate dentures are a kind of full denture that can be inserted right after the removal of your teeth, but will need realigning as your mouth heals. If we use conventional dentures, those will not be placed in the mouth until after full healing takes place, providing a more precise and long-term fit.
Partial Dentures
If some natural teeth remain, partial dentures are used. Partial dentures consist of replacement teeth on a gum-colored insert that attach to your natural teeth, keeping the remaining teeth from moving out of alignment while improving your appearance. Occasionally crowns will be affixed to the adjacent teeth. Partial dentures are an easily removable alternative to a permanent fixture known as a bridge.
Advantages of Dentures
Dentures will improve your smile and boost your confidence after losing or removing teeth, but appearance isn’t the only advantage. Using dentures will also help you return to normal speech quickly, prevent facial muscles from sagging, and assist in eating and chewing.
What Do Dentures Cost?
The cost of dentures can vary widely, depending on the number of teeth being replaced and the materials used. As is our commitment with all of our dental services, our staff will work to help you discover how your insurance coverage can make dentures affordable.
